    Social Yoga with Benjamin Santamaria

    Thursday, November 5, 12, and 19
    5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

    OISE, Peace Lounge, 7th Floor

“Real yoga, is the profound experience of oneself”

This is a balanced practice of the foundational elements of the ancient yoga tradition (a warm up series of movements, ethics (Yam-Niyam), postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama), pratyahara (emotional balance), relaxation- meditation (dharana), and concentration (dhyana)), in order to achieve the ultimate union or supreme concentration (Samadhi) with a strong focus on our general health (body-emotions or energies, mind and spirit) and the congruence between our individual and our social conscious.

This yoga’s purpose is the well being and perfect balance of individuals and the well being of our partners, relatives, friends, communities and the world.  It has strong human rights, social justice and activism component based on the ethics of the ancient yoga.

Please bring: comfortable clothes (preferably white colour (it is cleaner and reflects the light), not too full stomachs, and a personal mat.

Social Yoga will also unfurl on November 12 and 19.

    E-mail us for more information.

Participants are encouraged after each song to offer a thought, a prayer, a poem, a word, a feeling, a memory, an experience, a glimpse, a story, a teaching, an observation, or silence.

Together we will face the pain, the hope, and the wellspring of natural wisdom that we all carry as we explore our personal and global paths to peace and healing.

We all can be portals to receive the visions of hope, peace, and healing that are needed in our world.

Larry Nusbaum, is a Toronto-based physician, psychotherapist, storyteller, and musician who helps people access the power of their inner wisdom. He has facilitated groups for over 20 years and has a passionate interest in the art of healing and peacemaking within ourselves, within our communities, and within the world.
